its nothing to do with the coleges, i blame the parents, i would never dream of disrespecting anyone elses stuff whether its a rake or a 40k tractor, i was never late for any of my old employers and i would always say please and thankyou. If the boss was talking to the customer, i would go and keep busy, if we were having a break and i had finished my coffee i would go and get back working while he chatted, i know my place and i expect others to do so. I find the work equation very simple, do as you are told and get paid. I have to answer to all my customers, if i am late and dont do a good job i wont get paid, so i set the standard i expect from my employees, i believe in leading from the front and by example. i dont want to have to tell someone day in day out what to do, i will teach and explain how i want things done, how i want my tools kept and how i want them to present themselves to my customers, my ways have worked for since i started doing jobs when i was 14 and i am constantly looking to better myself, i have dealt with dozens of guys over the year some have lasted a day others 3 years.

Absolutely excellent, this is the kind of person we all aspire to employ, I hope you find one. I hate having the kind of person you have to watch all the time as they need to be told what to do every 5 minutes. Explain the job on the way or at the job first thing then it should just flow.

its all about effort sts, i have worked alongside guys with learning dificulties when i was 20, productively speaking i suppose they didnt get that much done BUT they worked as hard as they could from the 20 mins earlier than they needed to turn up to the second they finished, they were truely an inspiration , each of them were in their late fifties but an absolute joy to be around and their enthusiasm was infectious. So when i come across fit able young lads who annoy me from 100 yds away when i have to toot the horn to get them out the house 5 minutes after i have turned up, they walk out with their laces undone and you know they have had no breakfast and dont have a peace with them, those days are over for me, i have had enough for settling with cant be bothered people.

Never got a suitable candidate mate, BUT what i did get is my old groundie back that the descrition was based upon. I went on holiday last August i was totally fed up with work, had a lot of family chill time and a lot of reflection on past good things and bad, i like doing this, some mental problem solving is good for my soul. I watched a film that changed my life, went to bed and had the most crazy dream, i wrote it all down when i woke up and looked into it. Holy moly me, it was bonkers( a bit like myself some may say) :001_rolleyes:

I had a clear head and knew what i had to do, and that was get my old worker back, so thats what i did, i asked him to work 2 weeks to help me out, We went for breakfast and the first thing i asked him is if he wanted his job back, he said yes, job done! We get on great, we always did, we went our own ways 4 years ago when our lifes and my business changed.

We are both now older and wiser and work well together, i have to laugh at my first post on this thread, i havent worked that hard in about 5 years. lol.:laugh1:
