Im suspecting the effects of snow damage. At least 9-10 branches have hazard beam fractures along them including the other Welly in the grounds. Had great fun climbing especially getting the throw line stuck first thin (right at the top!!)

Also had the local paper there the report on the work!! free advertising and a great reference!!!

Both the tree are TPO'd upto their eye balls and even me just climbing in them to initially remove a single snapped limb upset many many locals!!!! I had to reduce the worst hazard beams as losing the whole limbs would obviously screw the form completely.

I am getting the whole site resurveyed as it came to light the last survey was in 2001!!! The Abbey has 1000's and 1000's of visitors each year and they walk all around the trees as they would. I would hate to see the trees go but really the number of major limbs with cracks in is quite scary.

I have covered my ass and told all including the consultant!!!! I have a funny feeling i will be knocking snow off them next year should it be bad again!!!!

I almost gave you a call John to say come down and take a few pics.
