hmm a top handle saw that you can use on the ground!!!! and in that vid he does some cutting above head height....tut tut, im sure thats a no no

he is wearing a chainsaw protective jacket, which makes his over the head use less of a no no, but still a no no.

he also does the back cut on that first tree whilst on both knees, no chance of getting into his escape routes...

have heard that stihl are about to launch a range of battery operated saws aimed at the profesionals.

I'm a little sceptical at their performance to battery life potential

I too am skeptical

there are going to be some obvious compromises, such as keeping battery weight low but this will hinder power, and then having amore powerful saw which would need a huge battery and long life to run for any sort of ample time

They had the range at saltex. The saws were a bit gammy but there is a long reach hedgecutter attachment (I cant remember whether it is for sale or will be soon but they did not have one to see at the show).

I had a dream that night about hedgecutting in silence and with no fumes choking me in a shrub bed. Although I may have to start going to the gym if it is a light as they say it is. Sounds a great idea to me.

Also there were some leccy secateurs and long reach secateurs. If they do some that are as good and as long as the Wilkinson Sword ones I have at the moment I would be very tempted to buy the complete set.

With regard to battery life, I believe they were quoting 4-6 hours continuous on the hedge cutter, though it was September last year I spoke to them. I too was sceptical about this figure. There is only one way to find out though and I will be trying to get some to try for the summer holidays when the school shrub cutting starts.
