bought a new ms 170 for cutting new sleepers and topping posts etc, but dies when any load is put on it, runs ok flat out with no load?? any ideas apart from taking it back to dealer, cheers

Ms170 is a domestic saw with very low power, not exactly designed to cut sleepers even clean ones. Fitted normally with a 0.043 chain as well which again doesn't bite like decent chain.

Even so a saw with a sharp chain should cut something so it sounds like it's leaned out and revving too high, your local dealer can sort this out in minutes.

Use your old Dolmar, i used to work for them, they have tremendous torque and once lifted into the cut do the job well.

i find it most irritating that people cant follow a few extremely easy to understand and simple rules

Those of us that know how important it is are trying to point it out and put a stop to it. Dont worry, it will be sorted in no time.:thumbup1:

From the point of someone who has just read this thread from the beginning, as a result of said simple rules being broken by unknown individuals, half of the posts on the thred dont make any sense.

Shame really.
