I've never tried a comp, but if I can make it to justins show this year I'll have a go, assuming there's another climb.

Not saying I'm good or anything, I think we all know its not just about the knot .:001_smile:

I just know that if you dinosaurs just took the time to try there are way better hitches out there, no need for hitch climbers, fancy pulleys, slick hitches or anything, just replace your blakes or prussic with a knut or martin. the climbing method is just the same its just a much nicer knot to work with.

I supppose I really should learn more about many of these new methods knots etc, especialy after seeing a rather good post with an excelent series of shots which was most impressive I have to say.

I will say however, that there is always a danger in having constant changes and adapting to new things within your kit make up. It can take time to relax with a new technique or method and become ultra confidant in its use, I have always prefered fluidity within the tree and good old fashioned simple methods and techniques allow me to focus on the job rather than my kit.

I also recognise familiarity breeds contempt, so there is a down side to being super confident and secure in ones kit.

Some very valid points in there Tony.

In our Team, we're generally all comfortable with the specific systems we use.

Hc/Vt - Hc/Howard - Lockjack sport - Prussick for apprentice.

But mindful of the need to search out & create the most ergonomic first ascents & recue situations, we're always looking at instilling others experience & systems to see how they work & how we could implement them.

Here's a few bits and pieces of Srt, Drt & Vt combos from a rescue practice session last week.

early days John, fair bit of tinkering yet.

Think the distance between double ascender & harness needs tweaking.

Getting a daisy chain in from Nod next week.

It was my first go, and found getting the combo of Da & left & right pantins synquing, to be something that will improve with practice.

Some of us used the pantins & some foot locked.

Should be a really good aerial rescue set up though :thumbup1:

One thing puzzling me, I've seen the double ascender set up with two extenders,(like below) but instructions show one.

Which is how we are setting it up.

Any thoughts?
