quoteing tiny jobs

defo a learning thing this is my first proper year having to go quote for work. :thumbup1:

Part of what i learned many years ago, is that how you price now, is how you are expected to price in the future.

Also any word of mouth you get from this job will be besed upon "Oh yeh, he was cheap enough, he came all this way and didnt charge any extra"

"Getting your name out there" does have its benefits, but can also have down sides too if you seem overkeen to jump on a job.

gets your name out there is only good thing about it, or i could price it to make a profit and not get the job and lose out on money cause i drove out there to price for it.

Agreed its better to have £100 of something than 100% of nothing.

Also if im working in a new area or a village for the 1st time and the job is on the main road/busy street i lower my costs a bit. Still make profit tho, but its if people see you then they may ask for a quote.:001_smile:

When I started quoting I quoted low for small jobs to get the work and then acouple of times with other customers when I was called back to look at bigger workin there gardens they nearly fell over with shock when i told them the price and thought I was ripping them off.

If I had of quoted the original jobs a bit higher id of still have got them and I wouldnt of put my self in an awkward position when i quoted for the larger jobs.

The unfotunate part of your type of pricing is that it encourages a downward spiral generally for everyone

:congrats:

Couldn't agree more. Price cutting drives the whole industry down.

Price your work properly for the time it will take, to cover the costs you incur, and to make a sensible profit.

Accept that you are not going to win every job.

Make money from those that you do win.

Its utterly pointless doing a cheap job, just to break even, for a customer who is only there a couple of times a year, and has no further work for you.

You'll either learn, or go bust.
