but will you not end up with still having the gunky bits in the bottom

looks good though

does it not leave a fair bit in or does it get it all

I tried it a few times when i first got it and taking out the sump plug only got me a few drips.

In fact on the VW Diesel with the paper filters you can suck out the filter housing and get an extra half a cupfull out.

A Smart car has no sump plug the vac device is the only way to change the oil.

When you are spending 20 grand on a chipper you should be able to drain the oil without a problem. the reason for a sump plug is to be able to drain oil. you shouldnt have to spend more money on a gadget to suck it out.

While on the subject of design flaws of the 150 (sorry Jeff) I have noticed that the black plastic cover over the rollers on the off side likes to collect debris from the rollers which builds up and ends up jamming the rollers slightly open, although it is a quick fix it can still need doing 2-3 times in a day which can be a bit of a pain. It can be remedied by removing a small strip of the plastic lip which curves under the hinge.......I guess

A peice of House Guttering would run the Oil away.

Those suction devices sound like a good idea, but as most Sump Bungs are magnetic, wouldn't any Swarf build upon the sump bung over time and never get cleaned off?

Every now and again when I change the oil in our plant,I drain the oil and then pour a couple of liters of Kerosene into it.It washes out some of the crap that gets caught on the casting and machining marks.
