Cool:thumbup1:

Gives me more of a reason to get my LOLER inspecting ticket, since it looks like the way forward.

thats what im thinking:thumbup1:

but a arb loler ticket wont cover you to do loaders and winches/jacks. the winch thing gets tricky if you are only skidding timber and not lifting a load just inspecting it will do.

Our loader at work is lolered and all its attachments are lolered too.

The winches are done as well due to the explanation of the firm thjat if we are winching up a bank we could be seen to be lifting by some one else's interpretation so to cover their backsides they have the winches inspected too.

What happened to the good old days when we could just inspect our own stuff and replace an obvious freighed winch wire or worn shackle.

What worries me slightly is if there is a genuine claim is all this butt covering going to end up negating the claim in some way.

After all, a loler or any other certificate is only really valid at the moment of issue, the minute you walk away it's useless

Thats why I think its all a bit pointless tbh.:thumbup1:

Detracts from the checking the gear you use yourself. "Its someone else's problem to check it"

We should be competent enough to check the equipment we use every day ie PPE.

Its not like an MOT on a car where you need specialist equipment to check everything.

Anyone got any ideas at all how much it would cost to LOLER a 2 ton bottle jack?

Considering they only cost £10 new I bet it would be more cost effective to just buy a new one every 12 months, and flog the old one.
