Yes but its the same as rigging so screw gates are OK,no?

i didn't know that a screw gate that has a swl stamped was not suitable for a saw strop

out of interest what does legistation state should be used?seems a tad excessive for a 3 way to be required,

you could argue that if 3 way is good enough for life lines it should also be required for tools.....after all, if you dropped a chainsaw because a screwgate worked its way loose its gonna hurt someone.

How come so many arb suppliers sell screwgate crabs for climbing if they don't meet h&s requirements?

i'm there now didn't realise that was legislation though, had my kit -inclusive of saw strop- tested by two independant inspectors on seperate occasions and never got picked up on it, good to know ta.
