Todays job - move the pile of soil after laying some concrete at Christmas, and the lorry came this afternoon bringing 100 railway sleepers - the lads are going to make a track and some chip bunkers - got to be better than the sea of mud weve had - Rohan and Tony taking turns in the digger as going cold, although Tony found how to warm his hands on the fordsons exhaust:thumbup:

Brilliant idea. I had a sea of mud too until recently when i struck a deal with a skip company who are based ust down the road......they bring me clean rubble for nowt- everyones a winner!!!I have just piled up the mud like you are doing and have put a couple of hundred tons down so far. Such a relief..

it looks like its just the top foot of glore thats the problem, a scraper is a good thing to keep the top of the sludge out of the way. I would love a nice level concrete yard. my little bit is ok because it hasnt rained in months up here and the frost is still in the ground. i can wear trainers around mine just now lol.

if anyone is interested plannings are good and you can get them for £60 an 8 wheeler load if your willing to meet the lorrys at the nearest motorway junction and guide them to your yard

although to get that cheap you usually have to take a fixed amount of loads at night
