I couldn't afford the diesel to run a mog, and TBH most of my work is the od take down here and there, if i get a big site job I get a haulier for the wood. Even at 800 kg the trailer is too heavy, by the time you add the crane at 500 kg plus stabiliser legs at 150 - 200 Kg you're still over a ton and a half.

Ally can be stronger than steel, just depends on the alloy itself, there aint no steel jumbo jets.:001_smile:

Whatever a steel trailer weighs an ally one could be made as strong and be lighter, so long as its not too expensive I reckon its a go-er.

Thats crossed my mind too mate, stick a crane in the back of a pickup, its do-able, especially with a scissor fold. You could get a 130 landy with a decent side opening toolbox and stick a crane on the arse.

I have thought about doing something similar. But I have been keeping an eye out for one of those citroen relay recovery trucks they made around the late 90's . twin rear axles front wheel drive and rear body made from ally. Andover is a bit of a hot bed for this sort of thing as taskers and Locomotors used to be here. Andover trailers still make the best huge arctic trailers and JJ conversions make alot of gear for the AA. I came across two lads in a barn about two years ago with some prototype ally trailers on axle stands I can see if I can track them down if you want

there is a really good hiab trailer made in canada, it was at the highland show 4 years ago, i tried to buy it off the stand, it was about 4k, it came in at 3.5 ton so it was landy teritory, but when i asked for a demo he admited the engine wasnt the right one and it was just there for show. he called me up the next month to say it was working tip top, but i had spent my money by then on something else lol. it had removable sides and bolsters. havent a clue what the guys company was sorry
