From AFAG training and certification;

"Arborists operating a chainsaw during tree-climbing operations

NEED to have the additional Certificates of Competence, CS40

‘Carry out pruning operations’ and/or CS41 ‘Undertake sectional

felling’, as relevant."

How many people climbing or supervising actually have one or other of these?

I`ll add at this point that i hold neither. I have considered 41 as part of optional certs for the RFS cert. This AFAG leaflet rather implies that as i don`t hold either i shouldn`t be working in a tree. As the guidelines states NEED, that potentially leaves me in a questionable situaution if something goes wrong during a rigging operation, either as employer or employee. This doesn`t need to turn into a buerocracy debate, i`m just interested.:001_smile:

Sorry to be ignorant but is that equivelant to Cs38/39?

They were the only climbing tickets when I took them, so I did the highest level available, cost me £50 and a days time for the assessment!!!!!
