Upping PL to £10,000,000

I’m currently insured with a local broker hitch is underwritten by aviva. We do a lot of work for a local estate and they have some roadside trees which need dismantling with TM in place. In booking the TM space they’ve asked for £10m pl cover. I thought no problem I’ll just get them to increase my policy. Proving to not be as simple as that. Aviva won’t just increase my policy from 5 to 10. Looking like I’m going to have to cancel

my policy and start a new policy. The broker has said they’ve found a company which can cover the increase for the job, but it £700 for two days. Anyone got any suggestions to help with this.

Well tell them you're happy to go to 10m but it's an extra £1000 unless they're happy to stay at 5m.

 

Had a local authority pull the same bs once, said the same and low and behold the original was fine, then waited to the renewal and increased it as it's always better to keep a policy than cancel.

 

Aviva are probably using Tokyo Marine like everyone else.

Had this a few years ago with TM so just tried to increase to £10m. Only way insurance company would do is a layered policy £5m each, as I work in church grounds for the diocese iand you need £10m cover as well.

Just buy a top up to cover the 5m specialist broker should do it mine cost £300 it only comes into play once you have exceeded your 5 m cover

Aviva are saying they won’t top the cover up for some reason. I’ll have to do a new policy.

The £700 policy is through another company to get my policy up to 10m which seems a little excessive for 2 days work.
