Storing branch logger nuggets

My branch logger can discharge into plastic nets but they tend to disintegrate and leave plastic everywhere so looking for better storage ideas. Managed to acquire a load of coffee sacks so filled them with the hope they'll let the nuggets dry. Any other ideas? They're pretty heavy to handle but my hope is that by the time they dry, the weight should be far more manageable. Can't wait to burn the damn things 🤪20250222_154606.thumb.jpg.e13f3265b946ed5f4c4a164a7e709be7.jpg

You'll probably end up with bags of mould. Branchloggers were sent by god to test us. They should work but do everything in their power to not work.

The bits I'd had in a builder's bag were mouldy. I'm trying to refrain from chopping any more and letting the sticks dry before putting them through after the summer.

Hmm...

Our local veg market has loads of recycled black plastic 18''-24'' size crates which would be good for drying and stacking up (fairly convenient but lightweight, tho ). They get chucked in the bin wagon, unless I need some..

In the wholesale plant nursery, they used a much more robust version to shift potted stock in -must be able to order a stack cheaply, off the Internet, surely?

What about fixing some 1'' square 3' high netting around the edges of a pallet??

We've also had very 'mixed' experiences with the lifespan of net sacks -I think speaking with other bag  suppliers, and users on here, will yield some insights ?

Do you plan to burn the wood chunks in your burning stove -I'm very interested to hear how it goes ?

I try not to think how much branch wood gets wasted/thrown in our chippers, just for 'convenience' each year..

I use the nets twice

after two seasons they are disintegrated

also put them in in barrow bags with two mesh sides. They seem to dry ok

only fill to max two thirds full or they are too heavy to shift about

i see yours are under cover. I leave mine out in wind and sun with some sort of cover over the top

AgreeBranch loggers are a faff on but I like to make waste into something useful

As David sys, split first is usually the best bet with most woods. Drying in nets is asking for trouble - need an airflow, the used boxes cold be OK - perhaps fill each one only half depth. For sticks I have a slatted box outside that does the trick,

Yes. I've burnt a few bits and they make an amazing bed of coals for putting larger logs on. You can cram a stove absolutely full of the stuff. I'm also planning on making charcoal from it and will report back, of course.

I bought it to avoid waste and so far it's been brilliant
