Do you find reading English difficult?

Anyway.  @corey Bailey

There is a real shortage of new starts with the right attitude ,sounds like you have that side sorted as well as the right tickets.

The next bit is getting what you have already in front of someone who has a vacancy.  By calling people up you get in front because alot of big firms will have someone working out their notice.

Big firms with council contracts will have alot of repetitive climbing. Reductions/ lifts etc ,that's the way in to get your skills up. Sure you can go into a domestic arb company but your seriously going to play second fiddle most of the time.

Good luck let us know how you get on.

Cheers pal appreciate it, glad there’s some nice folk on here👍have a interview with avove but gonna ring around on Monday pal and I’ll keep yous updated do appreciate it bud

For the OP... you will always get doubters wherever you are. OK some might question how you afforded the courses... but that is irrelevant really, done the courses, spent your money and now onto a career. Might be some jealousy in there that others had to work for years in the arb trade to get to where you are, but end of the day, 6 years working saving for the future shows a determined mind...

If Huddersfield is anything like around here, there will be a lot of tree surgeons out there. Give the phone book a good work out, start calling and introducing yourself.

If the doubters are right and you are 'drug fuelled' or whatever it was, you'll be found out and it will be a waste of money and training time... however it doesn't sound that way, and someone is going to get a determined worker.

But advice is phone around, see who is out there, perhaps follow up with an e-mail - thanking them for taking your call, remind them who you are and add in your contact details (phone and e-mail is all you need really). Similar thing, if you are out and about you might see someone working.. a quick word can get results too.

Good luck, always good to see someone determined to make a go at it

Yep to be honest wish I had funding for the course would’ve saved me a lot of money, but no I worked and probs had less of a social life to save up for them haha, if I knew about the trade coming out of school I would’ve gone straight to college to learn it but they just shove you out of school and you really have no idea what you wanna be I did anyways, glad I finally found something I love doing and found it at a pretty young age, I do have a interview lined up on Tuesday for avove and might have a few trial days, but gonna ring round on Monday

it might’ve been abit silly getting all them tickets in one but least I’ve got them and company’s won’t have to pay for them because I imagine some do and then they leave with the tickets and go elsewhere

appreciate the advice pal all the best bud

It's possible that when OP said he was from Huddersfield, he meant Huddersfield Road, Etobicoke, Ontario... but I suspect he meant Huddersfield UK, and Con is mistaken for some reason.

Yh sorry if I didn’t make that clear yh Huddersfield in West Yorkshire live in holmfirth now though pal

Got any idea what sector you want to work in? Rail, domestic, commercial, forestry? Are you willing to travel/work away?

Side note - why on earth would you question where somebody got the money from to better themselves 🤣🤣

To be honest mate I’d love anything at the moment as I just want the experience, no wife and kids so they could send me to Africa and I’ll go😂😂

and appreciate it mate I’ll tell them where I got it and that was long hours working😂

Sorry for any offence Corey. It's just my abrupt way. I've never had the opportunity to go to Canada. But in my imagination, its got to be better than UK. If you've been away for 12 years, not much has improved.

Nah none taken pal, was just a little confused and Yh the uk isn’t the greatest of places but I’m sure the weather over there is worse, everytime I see something about Canada it’s just all snow I could be wrong but yh probs is better than over here😂

No worries - get your first aid +F course done as very useful! Plenty of rail work available and as every employer on here will attest to hard working labour is hard to come by and worth its weight in gold. Try and get in with one of the bigger firms as they will have a variety of work which will mean you’ll find your niche….. then if I was you spread your wings and spend some time in Canada or Scandinavia 🤣 don’t disregard the little things either - be the on time man sharpening his saw, cleaning up, sorting ropes, being friendly to clients/customers this will speak volumes!
