I have the same rule around the farm, including myself regarding PPE, it might be hot but I'd rather be safer.

It'll all be digitally monitored via hall effect sensors, so would also assume a cut into kevlar is a rapid change Vs say a cut bogging it down slowly curve.

But these controllers are insanely accurate, we modified a motor in industry and even without the sensors we soft started and had it running at around 20rpm variance at full chat almost regardless of what load. Granted it's a thirsty beasty amps wise, but it also safety stopped in milliseconds if for example a t-shirt got wrapped around the mechanism it was that sensitive.

Think it depends on how cheap you go, even the Screwfix electric stopped almost on the button. It was like a wet lettuce but think it was like 1500w Vs my daily ms261.

I’ve booked for cs30/31 in Feb and need a new saw - the basic Husky we use for logs will not cut it, so to speak. I also have a GTA26 and a reasonable collection of Silkys.

I’ll be using it for Hazel coppicing, Laurel and Rhody removal, the occasional small tree - I’m a gardener in Cumbria, but we have some small wooded areas and plenty of ponticum. Big stuff is dealt with by other staff members/arb crew, I’m not looking to move onto bigger stuff.

I’m looking at MS251 C-BE

Any recommendations?

The problem with cutting ponticum with a petrol saw is you are permanently putting the saw down to untangle and move things.  Id go with an electric saw for this. Even one of the smaller one handed ones in whatever cordless system you already have.  I have a makita one like this for bonfiring

Makita DUC101Z Solo

Beyond that, everyone should have a 50cc petrol chainsaw.
