You need to maintain and demonstrate the starting/safety checks on a petrol saw, then you can do the cutting with a battery saw if you want. 
Just hire a petrol saw from the training provider for the course/assessment then get the kit you actually need afterwards.

From my perspective, cordless have no clutch, and if cought in safety chaps, it wont stop in a same way as it slows down.

Oh . I did not realise they had no clutch . Its the ballistic material wrapping round the power head sprocket that does the stopping though .

The newer battery saws have clutches, ballistics stop battery saws unless you are hell bent on trying to cut through them on purpose, or trying to burn out the electric motor.
