MS261C will not start

Hi all,

I have a 2015 MS261C originally had no spark but that’s because I was not pulling it over quick enough after a new coil.

Now it will not start, could it be the fuel solenoid? How can I test the solenoid?

Does anyone have any ideas, anything common I should be looking for?

Thank you in advance

Phill

Hi @spudulike I gave L&S engineering the serial number and they gave me the part number for the replacement which i ordered.

It is weird, I have spark and it sounds like it wants to fire on first 1-2 pulls, smoke from exhaust but then there is a change in the noise and no smoke.

Tried brake cleaner straight into the bore and it still would not fire

Thank you for your support.

Sounds like your timing is out . Could the fly wheel key have sheared ?

Ok so here is an update. It was my dad who diagnosed the coil, so I ordered one and fitted it. Found out the MS261 needs to be pulled over fast to get a spark. Still would not run but getting smoke from exhaust and every so often sounded like it wanted to.

Spoke to my dad, “what happened” “it sounded like it was running out of fuel, put fuel in and would not start again”

I have checked the key - all ok

I have refitted the old coil and give it a good pull - it has a spark

Tried to start and still the same, throttle wide open and plenty of smoke on each pull but will not fire.

Tried brake cleaner again - no start

Disconnected kill switch and still the same

Compression feels ok

Any ideas anyone? Could it be fuel solenoid? Why not fire of brake cleaner.

Been used plenty this year with no issue

Had similar problem with a big husky brush cutter, you have doneexactly the same thing I did.

Anyway turned out to be stuck piston ring, but it felt like good comprestion when you pulled it.

Probably worth popping cylinder off and having a look.
