You haven’t used them.

Sorry Rich, removal of previous post makes it look like this was aimed at you.

Please don’t hit my face!

Kram, when all the experienced guys tell you something is really good do you just have a general aversion to believing them?

Yes something like that.

After trying them in the shop, I think the Mapa582's are better, thicker.

I dont have a problem in cold weather.  My problem is wet weather if they get soaked through and neither type are waterproof.

My solution to that is to have spare, dry, warm pairs and swap as needed.

Stripping ivy in freezing fog is still my worst climb ever, ice cold wet hands that just could never seem to warm up. Much worse than climbing in snow, not that we've had much snow in these parts the last few years.

Showa 451 for me in the cold.

Those rubbery ones makes my hands feel horrible, it’s leather or fabric/leather for me.

They're fabric on the inside though. Can't be doing with leather any more, slippery when wet.

I have noticed you appear to ignore any advice you are given as you always think you know better.

Regarding to Mapa gloves, I looked them up.  Are you sure you weren’t comparing to the regular planners and not the ice grip?

They don’t look like they are suited for cold weather work.  I could be wrong.😜

Actually, speaking of knowing better.  I probably shouldn’t have bothered writing this post as it will probably seen as advice rather than a discussion.

So I expect it to be ignored.

Merry Christmas.

I'm not ignoring it, I looked at the pfanner in local shop a while back, I didnt think they'd be any better in the wet and I already have these which are adequate on an icy day if its dry. I can tolerate cold and wet better than most people.

I looked up the pfanner, this is their result

Not good.

I do need a few pairs for wet work so have had a good search. I think they need to be fully coated and some are coated just to the wrist, others coated to the cuff. I expect if the cuff gets wet it will wick up through the glove and also chill the wrist. Even so, the fully coated to cuff ones dont seem to have a EN511 cold rating.

I am going to order a pair of each to try. These score 021, so they are waterproof.

These are 03x, so water is untested, still they are fully coated so should give some water resistance. Worth trying I think.

True dat.

I’m ok in wet, ok if it’s cold.

If it’s cold and wet I’m knackered.

Still never found anything I can comfortably use for climbing.

Exactly, everything’s a compromise, a bit like overcoats.
