Cut and planed and photographed in unfortunately not great light this morning:

Hand included for scale. No needles on it and not resinous. Wishing I'd sealed the ends when I got it as it's showing a lot of checking, but I was given it as firewood. Hindsight's a wonderful thing.

Thankyou all for your thoughts and insight!

Saw the guy who gave me the wood and asked him - it is indeed cherry.

In the end I changed direction because I couldn't trust that the wood was dry enough to use as a whole slab. I cut it into thin strips that I could dry in an open oven in a sensible timeframe and used it as the light-coloured bands in the guitar body below. Really pleased with how it turns out; it makes me look a much better woodworker than I actually am!

Just a stab in the dark here Stubby but could be Yu-jin from Korea or someone else with a similar type of name cos I’ve seen some of his work before🤔

Thankyou ☺️ The neck is off a Hohner LX90. The pickups might be too but in honesty I don't know - I bought a guitar to use for parts, but dismantling it revealed that the body was MDF under the shiny black finish, so goodness knows where the rest of it came from!
