I can’t help but wonder why the customer would want the stumps dug out rather than grinding! Surely grinding is the easiest option all round and you can dispose of chips in green waste areas if they want a hole leaving behind.

Agree in principle. However, the local skip and recycling firm (quite a large set up) charge me £70 + VAT per ton for unchipped greenwaste. They are happy to take stumps in the load, but so far I have only had stuff I can lift with my little Bobcat E10Z. I did also have a customer who wanted some stumps to build her stumpery border with.

Though can't see how complete removal from site helps disease control much due  the nature of fungi mycelium etc?

Must be some where they could lose them on golf course. 

Justin Kingwell mulched a piece of woodland I stalk in early this year it was like a jungle before now like a lawn.

Just can't tell some people what would be best to save money. Old builder I know always quote, Help them the way they are going.
