hoping it's just the fact that it's metal on metal so it's bound to make some noise under load but I still don't like it (the noise that is, otherwise I think it's great).

I'm not a user, so I can ask the daft question - have you read the manual? Does it mention lubricants? Dose of WD40? Blob of petroleum jelly?

There isn't a lot in the manual about maintenance, just a little image of an oil can  

 

Going to give it a bit of oil tomorrow and see if it makes a difference.

3in1 then, doesn't work on mice but good for everything else.

Soak it in some soapy water and use a soft brush to clean all joints.

Dry thoroughly, I use an airline.

use a light oil (wd40) and spray on all joints.

Wipe/blow off all excess oil.

makes a big difference 👍
