Cut the garden hedge.

With the tractor.

I think a tractor is over qualified in the pottering department . If you had said nail scissors then yea , maybe . 🙂

I was about to say, heavy machinery sounds way outside the realm of pottering. I think there needs to be some real discussion about what pottering actually entails.

I think pottering is when you are bimbeling about and stumble across something you had almost forgotten about that you needed/wanted to do and you gather yourself and proceed in between cups of tea and jam doughnuts .

Pottering is something that you would consider doing with your ‘good’ jeans on, rather than changing into work clothes.

They’ll invariably get ruined anyway, but that’s beside the point.

As Stubs has pointed out, plenty of tea is usually involved, or even a can or three.

Why not?

It’s only pottering.

All right, stumbling we all understand, but what about bimbling? On the scale of productivity, I'd think pottering scores quite a bit higher than bimbling...

Do we need another thread for bimbling?

It is possible to potter and bimble at the same time 🙂

This is all far too targeted, and not at all pottery. Should probably redirect to the wee chipper thread.

Agreed. I will now try and go back to the wee chipper thread to post further details.

I still think it classes as pottering, I stopped for a brew and decided a kip on the sofa for 2 hours between doing the inside and the outside.

Racing around and getting it done in 5 minutes would disqualify it as pottering. I don't think much of my life actually goes beyond pottering tbh.
