Pallet wood broom rack

Rescued a tatty piece of pallet wood from a bonfire and made this. Anyone care to guess what type of wood it might be?

Scrubbed up bloody well whatever it is.

Looks like "pallet wood" to me, would need to see a photo of the whole pallet to make a proper assessment though. 

 

In all seriousness that's surely a piece of oak?

It does look oak like, weight would suggest otherwise though

I once had a load of pallets that had originated in New Zealand, they were made of some extraordinarily nice hardwood. Probably made from offcuts from a sawmill

Point being it could have come from anywhere in the world and be some exotic hardwood that nobody on here has ever seen.

I may have to go back and salvage the rest of that pallet then 🙄 broom rack holders coming to eBay soon, super rare and only £60 each

Even with pilot holes it was pretty hard to screw into. Undoubtedly a hardwood

It’s nice Steve, but I don’t think that’s the ideal location for broom and mop heads (right next to the sink/food preparation area)

Luckily we don’t prep food in the utility room sink

It's in the east wing and only the staff food is prepared there, all his refreshments come from the gallery kitchen downstairs.
