Tw 190 fuel tank leak from drain plug. Only weeping, it's happened before.  I went down the new tank route previously.  Has anyone found anything to successfully repair? It's a bit of a fault on these tanks I believe.

Not really sure why they have a drain plug. Every garage I know sucks fuel out of tanks if they have to. Is it a requirement?

Metal or plastic tank?

If it is leaking out the bung make sure the o ring or dowty type washer is fuel resistant. Often many aren't. Maybe a straight forward fix. If it is leaking out of the boss the bung screws into then new tank time.

Thanks. Plastic tank. The funny shaped one like a doughnut. Yes it's got a 3/8 dowty washer. That would be nice if it's got a non fuel type and that's all it needs. Do most motor factors sell them?

Also a bit frustrating that I mightve bought a new tank 4 years ago and all I needed was a washer!

Worse case can you not dry and clean area up and epoxy resin the bugger up on the threads and then all over the bung after.

Tank out and power wash job, dry clean. Bung and what ever out and then sort it that way? Leave some diesel in tank over weekend when done to see if it weeps and or has sorted it?

Good maintenance anyhow cleaning out the tank
