Haven't tried starting it, could this have caused any damage to battery or electrical system?  23hp petrol engine.

I connected the battery on my Countax mower the wrong way once. It blew the printed circuit board. Why it has a pcb is beyond me. Replacement pcb failed after 3 months. Simple basic wiring mod and hey presto, no need for pcb. Only thing lost is a functining hour meter.

Whilst I've never done the battery thing, I did replace the PCB on a Westwood.

 

Same thing, LEDS, headlights, relays and a seat safety switch. Its a ride on mower, the key should have a sticker saying turning this agrees you're not a moron otherwise call for a gardener.
