I think most myths and sayings were born of necessity!

 

"Playing with fire makes you wet the bed" Now, thats a great one to stop boys playing with fire!!

I asked the same question here a couple of years ago, after the previous person that owned my house told me "those alder trees are worthless, not worth cutting for firewood".

 

I did anyway, they seasoned really quickly, and are great. Not as great as ash, but definitely worth having.

So thats why I still wet the bed.

I burn it on my rayburn out of preference, it burns very hot and it seems to season very quickly if split soon after felling, been felling a few loads today ready for next autumn,

Once had an argument with a customer because she wanted me to take the logs away again after I told her it had alder in it, turned out she thought I meant elder :001_rolleyes::001_cool: burns lovely and splits easy if split green :thumbup1:
