Yup I found the msa220 horid and lacking power.

Husky’s 540 the best hands down , but the bar’s shit same as the chain, comes off constantly, if you watch it going round there’s a massive gap.

The echo 2500 battery shouldn't be over looked mind. It's impressive (tested side by side in a 4" log cuts faster than the new stihl battery top handle and 151 which i wasnt expecting) and amazing erganomics all without the faff of pulling a cord to start it.

It's an absolute winner for pruning, but equally will keep cutting with a 10" bar all in wood.

While I love the little echo battery, and use it all the time, I think you’re selling it a little hard there. It’s crap with a 10” bar, 8” is much better but even at that if you’re burying the whole bar the battery will last no time. Great saw, but it’s a pruner imo.

Separate to my last post, what are people rating now? I put my 200 up on the shelf last year after 14 years of graft, replacing it with the 540 mk3. Not a fan of the husky though, the sp21 chain is annoying to sharpen and it just doesn’t have the same power or reliability. How is the 201 these days? I remember using a few when they were released and it was absolute garbage. Have they sorted them out?

Yes, the first ones were absolute Shyte but the Mtronic ones are far better. The MS200 always benefits from a lot of grunt from low revs, the Mtronic MS201 doesn't have that but it does pull well once the revs are up....I know from porting both saws and doing timed cuts. It was close but the 200 still has it.

Top handles seem to have split into two categories.

Take down saws. ie 201, 540 petrol, 542 battery etc.

Trim saws, Stihl 151, Echo 2511.

What are you after?

I use a ported stihl 201 back handle for larger takedowns. A husky 540i top handle, less so now I have the 201 and the echo dcs2500 for pruning or little takedowns
