Its frustrating when you do this line of work day in day out, and you get hit with a 20 page questionnaire asking for your "modern slavery statement" and other documents.

Exactly the kind of thing that made me give up being Safecontractor approved, maddening nonsense when you are a sole trader with 3 employees.

I'm a sole trader with just me and I get asked the slavery question that and are you paying the national minimum wage.

Sometimes wonder if I should just answer no I'm not paying myself the minimum wage and I'm a slave.

Reminds me of that joke about the Inspector going to a farm in Ireland. Wants to know the employment conditions for everyone. Farmer says there's only 3 work here. Stockman gets paid x weekly and a house on the farm with regular paid holidays, tractorman has the same arrangement. The third guy is just a dogsbody, he works all day, 7 days a week, doesn't get paid but has a bed, a hot meal and a dram at night, occasionally he sleeps with my wife.

The Inspector says that's a ridiculous arrangement, you can't treat a worker that way, I need to speak to this man immediately. Farmer says you already are!

You can beat them.
