Moving rope system chokes itself?!

Thanks a lot for your answers... 

 

Yes, it is a good thing, that it moves up easily, when the rope underneath is pulled. That's the point, I know.

 

Still sometimes I don't want it to move up and it still does because the rope is pulled. Not by me though...by gravity.

 

In most cases I don't want slack, but sometimes I do want more space and I hate that it chokes itself.

 

I was hoping this is a common problem to many climbers and there is an easy simple solution to it.

Mark and Dan nailed it really. Its all about refining the hitch. Even just making the legs a tad shorter (by a miniscule amount) might fix the problem, although you might then find the hitch doesn't self tend as well in other circumstances where you do want it to.

 

Theres worse problems to be have to be honest.
