How the **************** do you get these things out?

If I become willing to run a drill bit into it from that side, possibly yes. It’s hammered into a blind hole as far as I can tell.

If post is scrap and you just want the fittings, cut timber either side of pin to make 1ft lengths then split it out with chisel or log splitter.

Normally the "hook to drive" is fitted on the bottom (gate is pushing it in), and "hook to bolt" is fitted on the top (gate is pulling it out)

 

You've had success anyway, but a 4ft crowbar and/or tapping it back and forth with a hammer will free it
