Yes, those Russian ones are something, no appeal to me, at least Stiga have

outlets where parts can be ordered, even physical stores.

Well you got me there, there is just no way I keep check of the dates I post, easy

to look up if your into checking people out. I have a few cheap saws, Echo CS352 and

a @wyk ported Efco GS5200, I only cut firewood when I get it at a fair price,

do my own garden and sons too. Am just curious as to whether Makita / Dolmar are

still alive in different colors, I did like their products, and had a few.

ETA, I think the Stiga 4500 is likely closer to the Dolmar 420.

But until one of us has one before them in bits, we won't know for certain.

However, you can still find 420's and 4300's at good prices.

I just picked up a 420 locally in nearly new condition for 250 euro.

I had assumed Makita would sell their 2t rights off asap.

Without casting a shadow on the more lesser known brands, think of it like a tier system with the metal castings being the most expensive part of the process.

 

As they improve they sell off the older designs to the competitors.

 

Granted a lot of the cheap chinesium are just a different badge on the eBay specials.

I am not an agent for stiga anymore, because i don"t entertain chinese 'clone' saws masquerading under what used to be reputable brand names.

Very similar on two models there’s definitely some 

Use or copied out of  older Dolmar makita models

If I put any money on it I would go the following way

 

the stiga CP-466  is based  on the Dolmar PS-460 

 

the stiga CP-526 is based on the Dolmar PS-500

 

these models where the red top semi pro versions 

from 12+ yrs ago 

 

in the next couple of weeks I will take a closer look 

at these models
