Final chog on an ivy covered stem, didn't bother with putting my main line in as it was a pain to reach around the ivy.

 

500i got pulled by a bit of ivy coming out the cut and just cut clean through my lanyard.

 

Was only about 4m from the deck so walked away with a stiff neck and bruised pride.

I have the spliced eye of my main rope hung on a nail in the shed as a reminder of the cost of complacency. I was gutted. It was (and is) my only pro splice and it was a joy to use. Likewise, ivy, easy tree. Didn’t go all the way though it but finished the job with a silky before it started looking usable again. Fearsome Stihl 120 or 170.
