Manual for me, my first was a manual, my second was an auto when I got it 2 years ago. Found it very disappointing compared to the manual. So last year when I put a prop through the auto box(my fault), I converted it.

Chassis condition is most important though, everything else can be changed. So can the chassis, obviously, but it's a big commitment.

Looks nice, but be sure to look up the MOT history and thoroughly inspect the car.

Has had a few fails and lots of advisories for chassis corrosion.

Nothing unusual for a Disco 2 though. But i'd definitely give it a good look over.

Yes when I view it I'll give it a proper look now that I know where to properly look and inspect.

Thanks a lot 👍

Ask if it can be taken to a garage and put on a ramp. You want a good look at the chassis, inside at the rear around the fuel tank is a common place. Look over the whole chassis, body mounts, tow bar mounts, anywhere that has mud trapped in it.

Patching/plating the chassis is common, as is fitting replacement rear sections.

I love the LR brand, learnt about crash boxes in the 1st registration in Hereford,  had 8 different variants and got to admit, got bad issues with my D4 but, had plenty of trouble free stuff too. Older stuff has corrosion issues and electric gremlins. But a reliable thing is good!

Sorry to keep banging on but what's everyone's thoughts on a Mitsubishi Shogun 2006?

I have a shogun 2007 which I think is quite different in appearance to 2006 but same engine. It tows bloody well but that's where it ends for me. Dpf issues. Limp mode issues. Uncomfortable noisy ride. I'm getting shot of it and going back to my faithfull old landrovers which I should never have betrayed in the first place.! If you can find a tidy disco 2 get it. Chassis can be swapped parts are cheap as are the vehicles themselves compared to defender, comfy  and no DPF!!
