Made a nice change today

Made a nice change today for two reasons.

1, I was processing my own logs for a change

2, it was lovely straight, graded softwood not bent hardwood

Load got delivered late last night & I managed to spend some of the day today getting some processing done.

Mostly on my own till my lad got in from work & helped for a couple of hours.

Total of 5 hours but 3 on my own. So doing the loading & IBC changes myself.

Got 8 done that way & another 8 done in two hours with help.

Quite pleased with that as was not pushing as hard as we do on clients sites.

Going on those numbers in an 8 hour day on my own I would do 21.3 IBC's & with help 32 IBC's.

On jobs we dont normally deal with the IBC swaps so that would up the numbers a little too.

This is the stack before I started, 23.1t

This is it after the 16 IBC's

Would it be rude to ask roughly how much that load cost? It's just out of curiosity as that lorry would have no chance getting down our road but it's nice to drool occasionally.

You should see our road & approach roads.

I wont say exactly but expect to pay around 70-90 per ton +VAT.

However on very dry loads they tend to charge a capped rate to fill to top of pins.

A lot depends on delivery cost. We are quite remote so tend to pay more.

What is the weight in each cage approx?

Er no idea.

1.2m3 loose fill is about 0.6m3 solid I think.

Fresh felled larch is 1.2t per m3 so if wet thats 720kg for the 0.6m3.

This is at 30% so about half fresh felled I think.

Still no idea but would guestimate 350-450kg.

I welcome any thoughts on this.

I see there is a larch thread re weights already too.
