Chainsaws made in europe

I feel the need to buy another chainsaw coming up. I probably don't need one, but I definitely think I could use one.

I currently have stihl, husqvarnas and echo.

I'm a bit concerned about buying something from one of the main brands that is made in China.

I recall XPs weren't made in the far east, but don't know if that's changed, was the 365 always made in Sweden?

Is it still the case that Makita are made in Germany? Sounds a bit too good to be true.

Excuse the brand snobbery but I grew up on the old stuff.

Makita were producing pro saws in the old Dolmar factory in Hamburg, I think thats EA5000 and up. Smaller saws such as EA4300 were made in China. I don't know how many saws they are actually making now, as Makita made a corporate policy to move away from petrol tools but you can still see them all on the dolmar.de website.

Stihl, I've bought an MS400 recently and it has a Made In Germany sticker on, I'm pretty sure the low cost domestic stuff is made in China. I guess for both companies it's tough to produce a saw for £250 in Europe.

Big difference between made in China and Chinese made in my book. I wouldnt bat an eye lid at buying a product from a trusted brand which was made in China, but would never buy one that was Chinese made.

I bought a brand new Yamaha motorbike. That was made in China and it was great.. So, as you say, if it is a trusted brand, why not. Saying that, now, after the goings on in the last few years i do nto buy chinese stuff on principle..
