On top of the CS30/31 gear the only extra gear we used were two hi lift wedges but the instructor provided these:thumbup:

I think they supply the trees Ian:001_smile: I think they teach the technique of putt tires around the base of the tree and setting them on fire till it falls like you do:001_tt2:

2 high lifts should be fine. You have also mentioned a winch (+ strops, shackles, maybe a snatchblock for fun) make sure the rated pull of the winch is less than the SWL of everything you attach to it (although your instructor will cover all this). Bear in mind though, that a winch may be included in the training, but will it also be available for the assessment? your assessor is under no obligation to provide a winch, and may well stop your assessment if you turn up for assessment expecting to use his! If the assessor or training provider has agreed to provide a winch, make sure you ase fully aware of how to operate that type before tha assessment (for instance, can you get the tirfor cable in and out? Have a ball, 32 is loads better than 31!

Does anyone know how many high lift wedges I need?

 

different centres and instructors will recommend different numbers

2 is usually ok but imo 3 is the best number just in case you need to double up

Have fun tractor boy, i would reccomend everything every one above has said, buy the loos wedges avoid the stilth bagged ones, buy an extra ring for eaxh wedge so 2 rings a wedge, get an extra shaft for each wede you have, and i would suggest a min 3 wedges but you can get away with two.

 

if you break the shaft wellcome to the millions befor you, so be prepaired. at home have drill with a resnoble sze bit in it, and a tapered bar, like a pillar drill chuck removing tool to get the remnants out of the head.

 

and above all enjoy your self and listen to your instructor, many people have trouble with 32 as all those little errors in small trees are magnified, and also dont forget you may be doing the new award so big trees and boring MUST be done in assessemnt now were as before you could avoid it.
