On the job sheet given to us by our boss, it said just to take the Ash down to good wood. I went up for an aerial inspection and realised that there may not be any 'good' wood.....

it blunted the 064 and 046 after about 12 rings!

shouldnt moan mate, did a windthrown one before xmas, was sharpening the 372 with a 24" bar every two rings tree was full of ivy roots and had got like soil inside it, not a nice day,

Tree looks in fairly good condition, would have probably stood for another 20 years....

You could have let it age gracefully like this old stager I took a shot of this afternoon on the way back from the local (coffee only, I take February off!).

I went up to get rid of some weight at the back of the tree before we felled it. It was a bit alarming looking down the trunk and seeing a bottomless pit!
