i run a 28" on my 371 no problems, so reckon the 390 will be ok with 36"

 

surprised i run 18" and thats fine i run 24" on a 395

24" on a 395 i got a 22" to go on mine but haven't needed to use it yet. Bet she goes like stink!

 

goes better with 18" on 395:thumbup:

153 mate with 30" stihl duromatic bar, had to drill the adjuster holes out a tad to get it to fit.ps, thats the wife in the picture, not me

I run a 395 with a 28" and a 36", struggles a bit with the harder wood, need a bit of patience as not the quickest cutting speed, but keep it nice and sharp then not to much problem.

Have you considerd a muffler mod on the 390 ??

makes for a nice little power addition to the saw :)

Buy a deflector for a 288xp and cut a "hole" in the muffler in the size that the deflector cover screw or weld the deflector in place, i buy mesh screen and put there aswell so no durt can find it's way in to the muffler, then i adjust the carb and enjoy a more power full saw :)
