Henchmen or Hendon tripod ladders?

Anyone have much to say on the comparison between henchmen and hendon tripod ladders (triple adjustment).

 

I've managed 10years without a tripod ladder, though predominantly arb work, the right ladder for a safe hedge reduction or trim has come to replace the old bifold ladder.

I recently got a 8 foot hedgeman

Is adjustable upto 11 or 12 foot

But I wouldn't like to be that high on a tripod ladder tbh

A hedgeman I'd say would be alot more stable as 4 independently adjustable legs and the fact it has 4, but it is a bigger ladder 

 

I've never use a tripod one tho

Have the hendon 2.4m one with the 3 adjustable legs for a  yr and am very happy with it.

 

Only thing broken so far is one of the adittional the rubber feet for use on solid ground eg concrete etc has split.

 

Having 3 legs is alot better and more useful than the 4 legged henchman thing which ive also used, its  more stable on uneven ground and slopes, lighter and easier to move, and the one leg can go into the hedge or it can be also used leaning on dense hedges....

 

 

 

thats why milking stools have 3 legs also.....

 

Idealwould be to have a smaller and larger one also to suit the height of different hedges......but if just getting one 2.4m is good choice.

 

 

Niwaki also do a  jap brand one, and I see that there are now a few others makes or rebranded ones selling,,  but I never seen the other brands up close to compare the quality.....

Henchman are great. They have the platform step which I don't think ordinary hendon ones do, and it's a good feature. 8' one is best thing I ever bought. Triple adjustment a must.

Hendon sounds like the one from  the comments so far. 2.4 or 3m + the tallest being 4.8 sounds like the ideal pair...although the right amount of hedges required for that lavish outlay!

Make sure you get one with all 3 legs adjustable, with out that they are a waste of time. Not sure which make they are but the ones northern arb supplys do are good. I’ve worked off the 12ft one and it’s as stable as you could wish for. I wouldn’t  want to go back to 4 legs.

As has been said, make sure you get ones with all 3 legs adjustable.

I used to have one which was heavy, but to my eyes a better design. It folded the legs out very wide, and the two front legs were at a steep angle, which allowed the working platform to be very close to the hedge. Until all the bushes/bolts wore, it was very stable. You don't seem to see them now. I may yet have a go at rebushing it, and new bolts. May need a lot of wd40 though.
