not been in these woods for a couple of months, went in the other day and found one of the big beeches gone over recently.

 

the pics are in this thread somewhere ( i think) but here's before (may last year) and after (this week) anyway:biggrin:

The pics really don't do it justice, lots cavities and old wounds, and obviously hollow under those roots/butt. Home to all manner of beasties :thumbup: lucky kids with that outside their primary school!

 

Indeed! Let's hope the teachers know how to make the most of the resource they've been blessed with :thumbup1:

We worked on the 100 guinea tree recently in The Vyne NT property. Massive tree, lots of decay. They are planning to build a structure to hold the tree up if it fails as it is leaning over tge road.
