When I lost 2 or more weeks after the Schliesing’s hydraulic pump went south.

Made me realise (after I’d got through all the non chipper jobs) that you have to have a back up.

As it goes, I am quite fond of it, under 750kg so anyone can tow it, couple of niggles to sort out and obviously no match for a 75hp machine, but I’m quietly pleased with it.

It’ll always fetch decent money and keep me earning when the inevitable breakdowns happen.

Sounds reasonable.... you did keep the old timberwolf as a back up for a good while.

I'm lucky I have a few chippers if any give me issues I can always get by

Well it worked fine for the rest of the day so I’ll just leave it and see if it reoccurs.

Thanks all.

I find intermittent faults more frustrating than full on breakdowns. Trying to anticipate when it may die, waking up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat thinking what's going to happen if it croaks on tomorrow's roadside job, then when it works well for the next few months I begin to doubt myself and wonder did it even happen or was it a hallucination, am I losing it? Is it the reincarnation of one of the old bangers I violently abused as a provisional licence yielding teenage yob, the only new parts it ever received being tyres and handbrake cables.

Long since melted down and recycled and now returning to spitefully destroy my life one questionable little niggle after another until I finally give in and do the unthinkable, waking herself up at 3 am to say "honey, I'm selling the machinery and getting a job"

Give me a broken half shaft over an engine management light any day.

So the ironing out of a few issues continues.

I had an electronic issue linked to the big stop button on the top sorted, then complete loss of power, so I took it back and he fiddled with a relay on the left hand side of the motor (looking backwards) said it was  poorly attached or something.

Then this starts, instead of the stress control stopping the rollers they reverse for a second.

Any ideas @Jase hutch @Pete B or anyone?
