Best type of polythene sheet for covering sides of cordwood stacks?

As above.I use old bulk lorry sheets for covering the top of the stack ,but am considering  polythene  sheet to cover the sides to try and keep the 2.5mtr long cordwood drier. I am aware  that one has to be careful as not to eliminate all air flow, otherwise one may end up with mould on the cordwood.

The cheapest and easiest way to do it would be to purchase a roll of silage sheeting. The narrower widths as used for the sides of a silage clamp will probably be about right.

Do you need it? We have dried a stack of douglas fir to below 20% in a year with just a top cover. Yes the ends get wet with driving rain but it soon dries out again in dry spells. If you cover the sides how is the wood ever going to dry unless you are protecting already dry wood. For us polythene wouldn't survive five mins due to the winds and even heavy tarps on the top have taken a pasting but you may well be more sheltered.

I'd have thought mypex or something similar would be better, it'd keep horizontal rain off the wood but it can still breathe.

I made these wooden side, which lean against the stack and the tarp ties over the top.

Max air flow, very little rain, and easy to move.
