Anybody ever get it wrong?

When ive messed up in the past, Its been conifers/pines, mis-gauging how much waste comes off them and all that :thumbdown:

Your skilled and experienced and can calculate the risk in the situation you have and know how far you can push your self but in the experience I had, it was for a 2 bit company not long out of college little experience and being the only climber trying to do work on trees out side of my capabilities is dangerous and to have the boss standing on the ground shouting does little for confidence.

 

He was out of order, and will never hold on to good climbers, they never learn!

That was the last day I worked for him, This was about 1999 earning £50 a day soon after I stumbled on a job on the motorway and cleared £550 a week and had a company car:thumbup: Tree work after that was for my self, starting with stuff I could do then got bigger.

 

The firm is exactly the same now 2 cabstars, the same ones in fact and 3 guys. This year im gonna push my advertising in his area.....

Better to be honest and upfront rather than do the job then hassle the customer for more money afterwards

(Heard that happen a couple of times:thumbdown:)

 

Have underestimated amounts of brash, wideness of hedges etc quite a few times.

 

Havent really underestimated a job time by that much though, doesnt say I wont do it tomorrow though!

 

More often than not though I worry about a big job the day/night before and the tree quadruples in size in my mind! Although at least when I get to the job it isnt half as bad as I had imagined it would be.

We all make mistakes, thats human nature but you will only do it once and learn if its cost you, We have lost money on jobs in the early days, not any more, a good detailed quote and time spent preparing its always pays dividends!!
