carb problems husky

yeah basically saw wont start now cause there is no fuel getting to the cylinder. i know its this cause i put a tad in the airintake and it fired up breifly. any ideas on what it could be or how easy to fix? cheers

could be anything, could be piston rings worn causing low compression, not drawing fuel through the carb, could be jets blocked in the carb, or a whole load of other things, such as blocked tank breathers,

 

 

my first port of call would be get the carb stripped down and then put through a parts washer, then take it from there,

yeah was looking at stripping it tomorrow. dont think its the rings as ive just put a new piston and cylinder in as the old one got buggered! cheers

if the old ones got cooked have you pressure tested the casing to make sure it doesnt have an airleak?

 

or do you know why the old ones got knackered

the old ones got knackered cause the gudgeon pin retaining clip snapped and got wedged between the piston and cylinder and scored the hell out of both. havent pressure tested it though as i dont have the kit. surley if there was no pressure it wouldnt fire with fuel in the air intake would it?

it will if you pour it in, but it will run very lean, i just wanted to make sure you had id'd why it died first time round which is cool,

 

i recon you just need to strip donw and parts washer the carb

check the fuel lines for splits?? does happen on any saws or hedge cutters esp after a couple of years or the fuel filter pick up broken or fallen off blocking the basket filter in the carb.

has it run since you put piston & rings in etc or only fired though dropping petrol down carb??did you open the crank casing?i:e new gasket etc

if it has, same as above check fuel filter & lines to carb if clear check you refitted carb correctly ie gaskets are sat right etc

Hasn't started without me bypassing the carb. It's had all new gaskets when I done the piston etc. I will strip the carb down today cause the fuel lines look good to me and produce fuel when disconected from the carb.
