Mark. I know what you mean. When i priced both jobs the client in both cases wanted the tree's to look as natural as possible. The first tree had been flat topped in the past and as you can make out the second had been topped as well. We only reduce Weeping Willows after explaining to the clients that they will be calling us back. In a lot of cases I have recomended no work at all. or when the client has a huge Willow in their tiny garden we have recomended pollarding.

 

Lots of places round these parts are built on Very heavy clay soils. So upseting the balance too much can cause problems. Thanks for your comments mate.

Where are you based. I immediatley recognised the garden and the tree. Although it is a common garden design!

very nice. I always think willow should just be pollarded. One of the worse jobs I hav ever been on was a willow a bit bigger than the one in the picture with the longest tallest horrible rose going through it, the drag was abot 50-60 foot up a steep incline and we had our old JO BEAU garden chipper thanks to the members of the caravan club.

have to disagree mark i have done a few to this spec ...and 4 years later the regrowth is nothing compared to a harder reduction plus it wont be as full and as bigger wind sail as the traditional hat rack willow regrowth imo !

I have never done any to this spec so I wouldn't know!

 

May try and persuade the next customer to go lighter then. Although most of my Willow work is pollards tbh.
