I dismantled a steering damper that I had fitted to my Honda F/blade , removed the crappy nylon bushes and turned up some PTFE ones . Made a world of difference . Infinitely more adjustable and totally smooth .

It's obviously a very useful material. I'm familiar with it in its tape and coating formats, (plumbing tape and nonstick pans!), but never used a solid block of it for anything.

Of course the OP could always use some Lignum Vitae for the bearings. Worth a mention since this is a Wood Forum! It used to be used for bearings, amongst lots of other things, as it's self-lubricating with its internal oils.

One dangerous fact abt ptfe is it is toxic when burnt, dont leave yr non stick pan unattended. K
