working on a b road

I have a job to do on a b road, a couple of sycamores need a crown reduction, they are not very big a will take a morning at most, they are on an embankment on a pavement. do i need traffic lights or will signs be enough?

to leggaly work 'on the highway' you need an appropriate qualification ie NRSWA unit 2 or SSC12

 

if you hsave thst qual you will know where to find the answer, every year many workers are killed and seriously injured at road works, forget chainsaws it is dangeouse out there.

Regardless of weather you have the correct certs to put out traffic managing equipment of not you are required to apply to Highway in wrighting at least 14 days prior to the date that you wish to be working on that site taking up road space .

 

as for what you need to use to controle the traffic it may be possible if the road is verry quiet and a clear line of site from one side of the lane closeure to the other then you may well be able to use prioritty boards but to be honest i would contact highways and get some advice freom them mate . i carry out TM works for various firms and to be honest there is much much more to it then meets the eye .
