What’s so good about Box wood? Not heard anything about it.

Before the wholesale use of plastics many tools used by plumbers and roofers for working lead were made of Box.  Woodworkers could pay a premium to have Box handles on chisels rather than Ash which was commonly used and  Chess pieces are made of Box.  Develops a lowly patina on hand tools with use.

I always save any box I can but have now collected far more than I need. I need to make some space but I'd like strong beer money for this lot. It's 2-4 inch, the short ones are around 2 ft long and the long 2 are over 4 ft. If anyone is interested let me know

Monty Dons always going on about box blight & has now given up & grubbed all his up.

Will it be like ash dieback?

Often see box  pheasant pens.

A friend with DipHortKew after his name tells me that the infection gets in through damaged foliage and small stems. Maiden trees seem to be relatively unaffected.

So don't trim your box is the answer (Madam!)

Where are you?

I probably should have added that.

I'm in Brighton but travel around Sussex and Surrey constantly.
