Newbie Groundsman For Wood – Chichester Area

Fed up with sitting behind a desk for years and recently bought a wood burner and want to do something to get outside / do something different including more interaction with other people and have become a bit obsessed with the whole process of felling / processing wood ... I’ve probably watched every video available about felling in different situations / techniques and find it fascinating.

I’m happy to be someone’s groundsman / lackey in return for unprocessed firewood but also as an opportunity to see if it’s something I enjoy and would like to do on a more regular basis.

I have saws and safety equipment and am more than happy to cut up / limb etc. although I don’t currently have any certification.

If I started doing it regularly I’d happily do the NPTC 201/202 & 203 Units (formerly CS30 & CS31) and a wood chipper course (all self-funded) …. although would probably want paying at that stage …. even if for a lesser amount.

I work for myself so to a degree can pick and choose my hours, it may suit someone if you’ve a job that’s a couple of hours work that isn’t worth getting a subbie out for a day (they may want a full days pay as well) and could do with an extra pair of hands and you can either charge it to the client or just to make your day a bit easier.

I live in The Witterings ….  PO20 8PU area and am prepared to travel but ideally not too far away if it’s unpaid.

Not afraid of hard physical work and I have absolutely no interest in mobile phones / social media  so won't get distracted 😄

As a separate … Also happy to pay for half decent unprocessed firewood if someone had a local job and wanted to use it as a tip site or happy to cut up / pick up as well.

Any takers or queries drop me a PM.

Don’t sell your self short. There is to many in this industry that get into the race to the bottom mindset.
You want to work to earn not work to ruin yourself! A trial day is one thing but don’t let people take the piss out of you.

Good luck.
